Adam Ondra Sends New Queen Line and Arco’s First 5.15b

Adam Ondra has made the first ascent of Queen Line in Arco, the area’s first 5.15b. The route was bolted by Mauro Mabboni and Ondra first attempted it a few years ago.

After the send, Ondra wrote on Instagram, “For the grade, I am pretty sure that it is rather on the upper end of the 9b [5.15b] grade. Small holds, big moves, hard drop knees. My style. Direct finish to be finished yet. To get the icing on the cake, I finished the day by sending Stefano Ghisolfi’s Ultimatum 9a+ [5.15a].”

One more day, a few more tries. Let's see. @gardatrentino Pic by @giampaolocalza

The climbing site 8a.nu noted, “In total, Adam has now done 17 routes 9b [5.15b] or harder which can be compared with the runner up, Chris Sharma, who has done eight. Then there are three guys who have done two: Stefano Ghisolfi, Jakob Schubert and Alex Megos.”
