Canadian Dan Beland Sends Classic 5.14b in Utah

Dan Beland has been on the road climbing for the past few months. His most recent hard send was Golden For a Moment 5.14b at Welcome Spring near St. George in Utah. After his send, he said, “Super stoked to have been able to climb such a classic hard line. Everything about this route seems to fit me perfectly. Straight up power endurance on steep terrain.”

Beland has ticked three other 5.14s this year, all in Mexico: Honey Bithc 5.14a, Murder Weapon 5.14a and Inferno de Dente Extension 5.14a. Beland’s hardest sends are Supermanboy 5.14c near Squamish and Stressful Day at the Office at Horne Lake.

Golden For a Moment is a steep 25-metre endurance climb up pocketed limestone. It is powerful with a big crux dyno. It was bolted by Todd Perkins and first sent by Chris Sharma in 2006. In 2015, Bill Ramsey climbed it at age 54.
