Jamie Finlayson Sends His Hardest Problem To Date!

Squamish-based climber Jamie Finlayson has sent his first V13 and it was in challenging weather conditions.

Finlayson sent Terminator V13 on July 9, despite less-than-perfect atmospheric conditions due to forest fires.

After the send, Finlayson wrote, “There are very few moments in life that sum up the emotions of completing a climbing/bouldering project, especially when you have no expectations.

“Sometimes great things happen when you least expect it. When you devote yourself totally to a single goal, the completion of that goal feels amazing! I am very happy to have put to rest the Terminator V13 last night.”

The route is a link of Squaminator into the Squaminator Traverse with a top-out. The original name of Terminator was Squaminator and Squaminator was called Coping. Mis-communication led to the real Squaminator being called Terminator.

Some have suggested it as being a difficult V12, but Finlayson who has sent three V12s said it was the hardest problem he’d ever climbed.

Finlayson said, “This is definitely the hardest problem I have ever done. I used the high left foot beta for the cross move from the Squaminator into the Traverse.”

I have only been able to do it a few times and never from the start. The Terminator is not going to be easy for me, but I am up for the challenge." Photo Finlayson's Instagram
