Ondra Flashes 5.14d

Adam Ondra continues his sending spree with two more hard routes, which brings his total to 102 routes rated 5.14d or harder.

Ondra recently flashed Chromosome Y 5.14d at Charmany in Switzerland. It’s his second flash of a 5.14d, the first was his 2012 climb of Southern Smoke Direct in Red River Gorge. “Amazing bouldery route, which fit my style perfectly,” Ondra said on 8a.nu. “Thanks for the beta Pirmin!” Ondra then went on to climb Transcription 5.14d on his second go.

Chromosome Y starts right away with an V13 boulder problem with highly complex moves in a 45-degree overhang. Linked by with a knee-bar into a V12-traverse with delicate foot moves, which leads to the final 15 metres of V11.

Ondra Setting New Standards

On March 30, 2012, Pirmin Bertle made the first ascents of Chromosome Y and Chromosome X 5.14d in less than 90 minutes.
