Second Free Ascent of Big 5.14 in Dolomites

Jacek Matuszek and Łukasz Dudek have made the second free ascent of the Spanish Route 5.14 500 metres on the north face of the Cima Grande di Lavaredo in the Italian Dolomites. The two strong Polish climbers reached the summit in the dark at 3 a.m. after taking turns leading and sending the crux pitches for 26 hours.

Last year, the two climbed the five most difficult rock multi-pitch route in the Alps: Des Kaisers neue Kleider 5.14a in Wilder Kaiser, End of Silence 5.13d, in the Berchtesgaden Alps, Des Kaisers neue Kleider 5.14a on the Wilder Kaiser, Brento Centro 5.13d on the Monte Brento, Silbergeier 5.14a in the Rätikon and Bellavista 5.14a on Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
