Hansjörg Auer Talks About His Solo of Marmolada Fish Route

In 2007, Austrian climber Hansjörg Auer soloed the 1,000-metre Fish Route 5.12 up the south face of the Marmolada in the Italian Dolomite. The route was first climbed in 1981 by Jindrich Suster and Igor Koller. In the short video below, he talks about his bold solo that took only a few hours.

Below is a video of Italian climber Federica Mingolla who sent the route in July 2016. Mingolla climbed the classic all free with one fall on an easier run-out pitch. The route is named after a fish-shaped niche where climbers have bivied on the route.
