Watch Kelly Halpin Complete Fast Grand Teton Traverse

Watch Kelly Halpin complete the Grand Teton Triathlon in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Haplin became the first woman to complete the traverse in 2013 and has since completed two versions.

The long day challenge involves biking 36 km from downtown Jackson Hole to Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park.

You then swim 2 km across the lake, hike and climb 16 km with 1.8 km of gain to the summit of Teewinot and then reverse it back to Jackson.

Teewinot is a popular peak for climbers, its name comes from the Shoshone word meaning “many pinnacles.” The name Teewinot probably once applied to the entire Teton Range, rather than just a single peak as it does today.

Fritiof Fryxell and Phil Smith named Teewinot when they successfully completed the first ascent of the mountain in 1929. The jagged peak towers above Cascade Canyon and Jenny Lake. The two popular routes are the North Ridge 5.7 and East Face.
