Bull Elk is Huge New Route on Elkhorn on Vancouver Island

Max Fisher and Mike Ford have made the first ascent of Bull Elk, a 900-metre 5.10 TD+ on Elkhorn on Vancouver Island. “It climbs a magnificent island feature in a remote and lightly traveled zone,” said Fisher.

“We did our best to stay on the ridge proper and link towers as the ridge got narrower as we got closer to the summit. Overall it was one of the better summer alpine trips in a while.”

They climbed about 25 pitches after a six-hour approach and spent a night about just after halfway up the ridge. Earlier this year, Fisher and Ford made the first winter ascent of Mount Colwell, read about it here.
