IFSC World Cup 2016: Canadians Make Semis at India’s First IFSC World Cup

The first IFSC World Cup to ever take place in India is currently going down in Navi Mumbai. It is one of six areas to host their first World Cup this year. Three Canadians have advanced to Semis after qualifications. Sean McColl finished in top 10 for the Males and Elise Sethna and Alannah Yip finished top 20 for the Females.

Other Canadian Males who competed in Qualifications include Will Johnson who finished in 36th, Elan Jonas-McRae in 24th and Eric Sethna in 23rd. Allison Vest climbed strong and finished qualifications in 25th. Good luck to everyone in Semis.

Since the formation of the IFSC in 2007, no woman has won five consecutive Bouldering World Cup competitions. Shauna Coxsey of Great Britain can do just that this weekend. After Qualifications in India, Coxsey was sitting in fourth after the top three Females all tied for first.

Coxsey finished the 2015 season as the top-ranked boulderer and has won the first three IFSC World Cups of this year. French climber Melissa Le Neve finished Qualifications in top spot and is one of the few who is hoping to put an end to Coxsey’s winning streak.

Qualifications Top Three Female / Male
1. Melissa Le Never / Jeremy Bonder
2. Akiyo Noguchi / Jongwon Chon
3. Miho Nonaka / Kokoro Fujii
