Don’t Miss These Six Canadian Climbing Fests 2018

Squamish, Okanagan, Bow Valley, Thunder Bay, Beaver Valley, Dover Island

Every year across Canada, there are a number of climbing festivals that bring together local and travelling climbers.

So far this year, there are a number that have already been announced with dates and activities.

Below are six that are confirmed and there might be many others that we’ll share with you throughout the season.

Arc’teryx Climbing Academy in Squamish

The 2018 Arc’teryx Climbing Academy will be taking place in Squamish from July 19 to 22.

There will be clinics and guests include Luka Lindic, Brette Harrington, Leo Houlding and many others.

Rock the Blocs

The sixth annual Rock the Blocs festival will be taking place at The Boulderfields in Kelowna, B.C. this June 23 and 24.

It’s a festival including a bouldering competition, area development, projects, clinics aimed at getting the climbing community together and a whole lot of fun.

The Bow Valley Rock Fest

Formerly known as the Canmore Climbing Festival, the third annual event will be taking place on Fri. July 13 in Canmore.

Special guests include Adam Ondra, Sasha DiGiulian and other climbers that are yet to be named.

It sounds like Ondra will be here to project some hard routes. Should be a great show, follow on Instagram below.

Thunder Bay Climbing Fest

The first rock climbing festival to take place in Northwestern Ontario is scheduled for Sept. 22 and 23.

Organized by local Aric Fishman and other longtime Thunder Bay climbers, the event promises to be a hard trad climbing get-together set among stunning fall colours.

Beaver Valley Climbing Fest

The 2018 Beaver Valley Climbing Festival will take place from July 20 to 22 for its sixth consecutive year in the heart of southern Ontario’s climbing areas.

Located near Georgian Bay, Beaver Valley has a number of great crags, such as Devil’s Glen, Old Baldy, The Swamp and Metcalfe.

Every year, about 100 climbers gather for clinics, music, big meals and great climbing. The 2018 schedule isn’t up but check out 2017’s here to see what’s in store.

Dover Island Boulderfest

The Dover Island Boulderfest attracts dozens of climbers to Nova Scotia’s coastline every year.

It’s arguably one of the best and more consistent climbing festivals in the country. This year is will take place on Aug. 4 and 5.
