The winners of the first Triglav The Rock Ljubljana, which took place according to the rules of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC), were Janja Garnbret and Chon Jongwon from Seoul.
The two-day event wrapped up in front of a big crowd on the Congress Square in Ljubljana.
Another gold medal for @janja_garnbret !!! 💪 This time on her home ground, winning #triglavtherockljubljana! It was amazing to see her casually cruise final boulders! #climbing #plezanje #slovenijapleza #climbing_pictures_of_instagram #competiton #bouldering #1stplace #thestrongestteam 📷 @urbanurbanc
For the Females, Slovenian Janja Garnbret, arguably one of the best climbers in the world, made sure the title stayed in the country. Garnbret had her game face on from the start to the finish. Her only mistake came on the second boulder in the Semis, for which she needed two attempts.
For the Males, Korean Jongwon stood out from the first to the last round. In second was Kruder, but he was fist when it came to getting the crowd on their feet. Russian Aleksey Rubtsov finished third, even though he led after the Semis.
Simon Rožnik, initiator of the Triglav The Rock Ljubljana and the director of Ekstrem said, “We are very pleased with the event, as Triglav The Rock Ljubljana can be put beside events like this in other countries and that was confirmed by the climbers.
“I believe that we will grow each year and by 2020, when climbing will be an official Olympic sport, this competition in Ljubljana will be one of the top climbing competition in the international calendar.” Watch Finals below and follow on Facebook here.
