Andrzej Bargiel is Acclimatized, K2 Ski Attempt Begins

Polish skier Andrzej Bargiel has advanced his camps high up K2 and has skied from camp five to base camp.

He made base camp on July 9 after abandoning an attempt to ski Gasherbrum II due to conditions.

Now, he’s preparing to ski from the summit of the world’s second highest mountain.

If he accomplishes the big descent, he’ll be the first person to do so successfully.

Bargiel and his climbing partner Janusz Golab have spent the past week acclimatization on the Cesen Route.

A few days ago, they made it to 7,800 metres on the Abruzzi Spur.

The drone that is being used to film Bargiel was recently used in a rescue of U.K. climber Rick Allen on Broad Peak.

This will surely be one of the most historic ski lines ever opened if completed.
