It only took Canmore runner Dr. Andy Reed 26 hours and 33 minutes to complete what many thought was nearly impossible: the double Canmore quad. He ran over 10,000 vertical metres over 106 kilometres at the end of July.
What’s the Canmore quad? You start in Canmore and run up and down Lady Macdonald, Grotto Mountain, EEOR and Ha Ling and finish where you started. The routes you follow are up to you, but you have to only travel on foot.
In July, Adam Campbell and Eric Carter completed the first technical Canmore quad, where they climbed rock routes on all four peaks. Their day was a 57-kilometre, 5,000-metre 5.8 day that took 18 hours and 30 minutes. Read more about it here.
The Canmore quad has become a must-try challenge for local and visiting mountain enthusiasts who want to push themselves in the Canadian Rockies. Bring a lot of water, stash some food, carry poles and pace yourself.
