“It’s time to avoid all avalanche terrain,” said Canada’s leading avalanche experts.

The forecast statement for the North Rockies: “AVOID ALL AVALANCHE TERRAIN and stay clear of overhead hazards. A natural avalanche cycle is expected in the region over the coming days. Conditions will become increasingly dangerous over the day Tuesday.”

Also today, there will be avalanche control above the ice climbs Bourgeau Left WI5 and Bourgeau Right WI4+ in Banff National Parks. Sunshine Ski Village announced: “Today, Nov 30, at 1:00pm, Parks Canada will be conducting Avalanche Control work along the access road. The access road will be temporarily closed at this time until work is completed.”

The forecast statement for the Squamish and Whistler areas: “Another atmospheric river storm will bring lots of precipitation and rising freezing levels. As a result, expect to see a widespread avalanche cycle with the potential for large, full-path avalanches. Avoid all avalanche terrain for the next days.”
