Historical Peel River Expedition for Summer 2018

This expedition is a journey by canoe from the headwaters of the Wind River, to the Peel River, ending at Ft. McPherson in the Yukon.
This three-week trip will follow the route of the first formal mapping expedition of the Peel River basin by The Royal Canadian Geographical Society founder Charles Camsell.
Team leaders David McGuffin and Terry Camsell are the great-grandson and great-nephew respectively of Charles.
Using Charles’ original field notes and photos to juxtapose with their own journey, David and Terry will tell the story of this near pristine wilderness area, its importance to local communities and what its newly protected status means for the region and Canada.
This story will be reported in Canadian Geographic magazine, to an audience of millions on NPR News in the United States, as well as other new outlets in Canada and beyond.
