James Forrest Climbs 273 Irish Mountains for Record

James Forrest has climbed all 273 mountains in Ireland in just 56 days, completing his goal on Oct. 3.

Last year, he spend six months in Wales and England and climbed all 446 mountains, setting the record for climbing all of the peaks.

In completing all of the Irish mountains, Forrest also ticked the Vandeleur Lynams list, which was first produced in 1952 by Joss Lynam published it in a reprint of Mountaineering in Ireland by Claude Wall printed in 1976. Find the list here.

I did it! 273/273 Irish mountains in 56 days – the fastest ever time ? . . . ?Fastest ever completion of all 273 mountains in Ireland ?First ever continuous 'single round' of the mountains in Ireland . . . Wow! What a crazy journey. It's simultaneously been the best (and most difficult) thing I've ever done. I'm mentally and physically exhausted. But…I made it! Today I stood atop Knocknadobar, my 273rd summit, and claimed the peak-bagging record. I'm so so happy, excited and elated (and relieved!) to have finished. It took me 56 days – exactly 8 weeks – with 10 rest days (so 46 days of hiking in total). It was the adventure of a lifetime; an epic mission full of dizzying highs, crushing lows, calamitous errors, and so many hilarious and heartwarming moments. Thanks so much to everyone who has followed my journey and sent me messages of support. I love you all ❤️. Now I need to eat some fast food and sleep for a long, long time. Over and out. ?? . . . Forrest quit a job a few years ago and dedicated his life to climbing year-round. He’s the first to complete the Vandeleur Lynams in one push.

Forrest wrote about about his climbs in England and Waled called Mountain Man, which will be available next year.

Scrambling the Macgillycuddy's Reeks in Ireland. Wow. ?
