Watch Ski Descent Down “Covid Couloir” on Mount Fay

Skiers were skiing big lines in July, when Rockies were getting a lot of snow

Sean Murray has released a short video of a possible first ski descent down a line dubbed Covid Couloir. “I made a video about a potential first decent which myself and Pierre Grabinski skied in July,” Murray said.

“The ski line is near the Neil Colgan Hut, above Moraine Lake. The video also shows some of the amazing terrain around the hut. With this much snow still in the Rockies in July, this ski year should be epic.”

First Known Ski Decent of East Fay – On July 11th 2020. Myself and Pierre with the amazing support of Kylee, skied the far left line on Fay, to our best knowledge this route had never been skied before. This line was one of the most technical things I have ever skied and had many different components to it. The ski was properly steep and was a true “no fall zone,” skiing and climbing right next to the hanging serac was a bit eerie and the runout required you to manage and hop a crevasse (bergschrund) at the bottom. The climb required roping up to cross a bergschrund, and turned into a ice climb for one of the sections right next to the serac. We are looking for help naming this line, and any suggestions would be appreciated! Currently “COVID Couloir” (cause it was sick), “Surf and Turf” and “Glass Ceiling” are the best names so far. Shoutout and thanks for @confessionsofaskibum for letting me use his awesome photo of Fay, and go check his page out as it’s one of the best ski instagrams around! ⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ .⁣ #dynafit #nature #mountaineering #backcountryskiing #mountaintrekking #puremountain #summerskiing #skiing? #mountainguide #skiingislife #heliskiing #skialp #snowboard #skiingisfun #mountains #skiingday #snow #mountainslife #alpineclimbing #iceclimbing #alpinismo #snowpark #wintersport #skiresort #ski #snowrider #skitricks #landscape #skiracing #mountain via @hashtagexpert
