2022 North American Cup Series Schedule Released

The 2022 North American Cup Series is back! It will begin on April 27 in Alexandria, Virginia at Sport Rock

After last year’s success, Climbing Escalade Canada and USA Climbing have announced the return of the North American Cup Series (NACS) for 2022. The five-event series this year features venues such as Quebec’s Jackalope and Vail’s GoPro Mountain Games.

Last year’s North American Cup Series was a resounding success, with Canadians and Americans splitting victories evenly between them. This year, the stakes have risen further with higher profile venues hosting these competitions.

The Schedule

April 27 – May 1         Sport Rock, Alexandria, Va. (Bouldering, Lead, Speed)

June 10-11                   GoPro Mountain Games, Vail, Colo. (Bouldering)

July 15-17                     Richmond Olympic Oval, Richmond, British Columbia (Lead, Speed)

Aug. 19-21                    Jackalope Festival, Olympic Stadium, Montreal, Quebec (Bouldering)

Sept. 16-18                   TBD. (Lead, Speed)

Part of the importance surrounding the NACS comes from the Continuous National Ranking (CNR). These events function to push an athletes CNR if they do well. A high CNR qualifies Canadian athletes for Canada’s World Cup team.

The Executive Director of Climbing Escalade Canada Christiane Marceau said the following regarding the new Series:

The 2021 NACS was a leap of faith by both our organizations, and we are proud that the athlete community responded in such a positive way! We are excited to have a common vision for the development of elite athletes in North America, and see this program repeat in 2022.

Marc Norman, the CEO of USA Climbing echoed these thoughts stating:

We are very happy with the success of the inaugural North American Cup Series in 2021 and thrilled to once again partner with our friends at Climbing Escalade Canada to develop the next generation of climbers.

To participate in the 2022 North American Cup Series, athletes must be registered with the National Sports Federation. Information regarding the event, including registration, training availability, time schedules and more will be provided a minimum of 30 days prior to each event.
