Alannah Yip Gets 13th in Boulder World Championships

Alannah Yip was the only Canadian to make semifinals for bouldering and came out strong, ranking in the top four until the final 10 of 20 competitors took to the wall.

In the end, Yip finished 13th after a strong performance with a top early in semis. Janja Garnbret flashed three of the semifinals problems and is heading to finals in first place.

The energy was electric and atmosphere big as thousands crowded into the arena for the semis, which was just one of many major comps this week.

Last night, finals for paraclimbing and speed climbing took place with a number of upsets, slips and come-from-behind wins.

Yip was the second one out in semifinals for women’s bouldering and was climbing strong with a near send on problem four. If she’d stuck the last move, she would have been close to finals.

After the event, she said, “My heart is going to hurt for a long time because of this, 13th place in Bouldering for me at the World Championships. Overall I’m happy with my performance (except for that one move).” Watch the clip below.
