All CEC Climbing Comps Cancelled for March, at Least

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, everyone is advised to stay home if they can

Climbing Escalade Canada has announced that all sanctioned comps in Canada are cancelled for March. April comps are under review, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, it’s safe to assume that most of the early-April comps will be postponed or cancelled.

To see what gyms are closed in Canada, which is most, visit here. Do your best to limit social interactions, practice good hygiene and stay home unless you have to travel. More updates to come.

The OCF Difficulty Season is suspended until further notice. Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is recommending the immediate suspension of all large events and public gatherings of over 250 people due to COVID-19. Our competitions are consistently over this threshold. Therefore, in consultation with our host gyms, the OCF Board has decided to suspend the OCF Difficulty Season until further notice. OCF Difficulty Local #2 (scheduled for March 28/29th, 2020 at Boulderz Etobicoke – @boulderzclimbingcentre ) is officially cancelled and will not be rescheduled. We will issue full refunds to all registered athletes. A decision on whether and when OCF Difficulty Provincials will take place is deferred until there is more clarity on the COVID-19 outbreak. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as soon as there is new information. The health and safety of our athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators is of utmost importance in everything we do. We thank the Ontario climbing community for their support and understanding. #phac #canadahealth #healthandsafety #climbing #community #ontarioclimbingfederation

UPDATE: COVID-19 & SCBC 2019/20 Climbing Season .. .. Hello, everyone, The SCBC Board of Directors met this evening and made the decision that Difficulty and Speed Provincials will not be happening at the Richmond Oval 10 to 12 April. At the moment, this provincial competition is postponed. The ability of SCBC to hold these provincials will depend on scheduling decisions being made by the CEC as well as the timing with which the COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted. SCBC continues to be in close contact with the CEC to ensure the best possible coordination between provincial and national competition schedules. As all of you know and appreciate, this is a very fluid situation. The SCBC Board appreciates your continued patience and understanding as all of this is worked through. As always, please contact any Board member if you have any questions. Thank you, Peter McNamee President Sport Climbing Association of British Columbia www.sportclimbingbc.ca
