Canadians head to Seattle for Northwest Boulderfest this Saturday

Seattle Bouldering Project (SBP) is hosting the highly anticipated, eigth annual, Northwest Boulderfest this Sat., Oct. 20, 2018.

Canada will have some mighty strong representation at the event as B.C. based climbers Sean McColl, JJ Mah, Allison Vest and Alannah Yip are registered to compete.

Both Canadian women earned a spot on the podium last year. Vest took home the bronze and Yip won the competition (beating out Austrian superstar Anna Stöhr, who took home silver).

Winner of the Southwest Boulderfest, Shannon Russell, is also set to compete, as well as Claire Burhfeind and Micheala Kiersch.

McColl and Mah will be up against Alex Fritz and Sean Bailey, who placed fourth and fifth respectively last year, as well as the very accomplished, young climbers Nicholas Milburn and Drew Ruana.

This event tends to get some surprises in terms of registration so the already strong field could be even stronger.

SBP’s Chad Walker is the chief setter for the event, working with a talented crew of setters, including Tonde Katiyo.

Finals start at 7:30 p.m. PST and will be live-streamed if you can’t make the party in person.
