Canadians Heading to Wujiang Speed, Boulder World Cups
With Chongqing behind us we are looking forward to Wujiang, the second Chinese stop in the IFSC World Cup tour.

IFSC press release: Chongqing brought us some remarkable performances and even a women’s speed world record from YiLing Song (CHN), which has us all wondering if anyone will be able to catch her this season. Anouck JAUBERT (FRA), previous world record holder, did put up some pretty impressive times, but she’ll have to step up her game in order to keep up with SONG in Wujiang.
On the women’s bouldering front we have Janja Garnbret, who is currently second in the world rankings and first for the 2019 season after taking three gold medals in Meiringen, Moscow and Chongqing! She has been and unstoppable force with an undefeated season, which has us all on the edge of our seats in anticipation for her next performance in Wujiang.
We are all eagerly awaiting to see if Adam Ondra will be stepping back into the bouldering spot light this week following a no-show in Chongqing after getting sick. Fingers are crossed that he has been able to recover and regain his strength enough to come back as strong as before.
We also hope to see Jernej Kruder, who took gold medal in Moscow, refocus himself and return to the mats ready to show his strength and style and climb his way back onto the podium. And let’s not forget about team Japan. Yoshiyuki Ogata walked away from Moscow with a bronze medal and Tomoa Narasaki walked away Chongqing with a silver. It will be interesting to see what else Team Japan has in store for us in Wujiang.
