Cancelled Russia World Cup Moved to Italy in June
"I am confident that the event will be a great success"
The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) has announced that boulder world cup that was going to take place in Moscow, Russia, has been rescheduled to June 10 to 12 in Brixen, Italy. In 2019, the European Youth Boulder Championships took place in Brixen.
The vice president of the Italian Federation of Sport Climbing, said, “the Italian Climbing welcomed with great enthusiasm the announcement of the IFSC Boulder World Cup taking place in Brixen. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the local organisers, who made the application happen in a very short time. With the state of the art Climbing Center in Brixen, and the international experience gained in the past few years, I am confident that the event will be a great success. My sincere appreciation also goes to FASI President Davide Battistella, who supported this initiative from the very beginning, and helped us in bringing the IFSC World Cup back in Italy after many years.”
On March 2, the IFSC announced that they would fall in line with the recommendations issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the implications of the war in Ukraine. This includes the suspension of all IFSC competitions scheduled to take place in Russia as well as a ban on athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus.
