Climbing Escalade Canada Coaching Team Announced
Here's who's coaching Canada's athletes for the Olympic Qualifier Series, Youth World Championships, and Speed Development Program

Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) announced today who will be leading Canada’s top climbers in preparations for international competition this year. CEC is the national governing body for competition climbing in Canada, as recognized by the Canadian Olympic Committee and International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC).
The 2024 Paris Olympics are a little over four months away. Alannah Yip, Sean McColl, and Oscar Baudrand have one final opportunity to compete for an Olympic qualifying spot at the Olympic Qualifier Series in May and June 2024. Held in Shanghai from May 16 to 19 and Budapest from June 20 to 23, this Olympic Qualifier Series will award 10 Olympic tickets in each gender category. CEC has appointed Dallas Mix to support Yip, McColl, and Baudrand in their qualification efforts.
This year, the IFSC Youth World Championships are being held in Guiyang, China in late August. CEC typically supports a team of up to 50 attending youth athletes in Boulder, Lead, and Speed disciplines. CEC have chosen Frédéric Desgranges and Paige Boklaschuk as Co-Head coaches for Canada’s Youth team.
To lead Canada’s 2024 Speed Development program, CEC has appointed Libor Hroza. Hroza will lead the team through World Cup competition, with the ultimate goal of medaling in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics Games.
