Here’s Who’s Setting for the Paris Olympics
The Olympic competition boulder problems and lead climbs will be set by a team from USA, Japan, Poland, France, Germany, and Austria

We’re a little over four months away from the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Climbing will be making its second appearance at the Games. Unlike in Tokyo in 2021, the sport of climbing will be separated into two disciplines: Speed and Sport Climbing (i.e. Boulder & Lead Combined).
The Olympic routesetting team was just announced for both the Boulder and Lead portions of the comp. USA’s Garrett Gregor will head the Boulder setting team. Gregor served as head routesetter in the Continental Olympic Qualification events last year. He’ll be joined on the Boulder team by Tsukasa Mizuguchi of Japan, Remi Samyn of France, and Olga Niemiec and Tomasz Olesky of Poland.
Austria’s Martin Hammerer will serve as the head routesetter for Lead. His previous setting experience includes leading the European Games Krakow-Malopolska in 2023. Others on the Paris Lead routesetting team include Akito Matsushhima of Japan, Adam Pustelnik of Poland, Brad Weaver of the USA, and Jan Zbranek of Germany. Across the two setting teams, three setters are from Poland, two from the USA, two from Japan, and one each from Austria, Germany, and France.
The judges for the competition have also been announced: Karalyn Aronow of the USA, Nelson Lam of New Zealand, and François Leonardon of France. Tim Hatch of Great Britain will serve as the Jury President. Piero Rebaudengo and Hazel Han will be the International Federation Delegates. They’re responsible for ensuring that the boulder and lead comps adhere to IFSC rules and regulations.
