Meet Your 2025 Canadian National Team
These 10 climbers have earned their spots on Canada's Elite and Performance Squads for Boulder, Lead, and/or Speed

Yesterday, Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) announced the first 10 climbers selected for Canada’s 2025 National Team, an elite group of athletes training to represent Canada in IFSC World Cup and Olympic competition. Six men and four women have earned their spots on the team based on their results in previous international and national competitions. CEC is the national governing body for competition climbing in Canada, as recognized by the Canadian Olympic Committee and International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC).
The athletes on Canada’s National Team are assigned to three different squads across three different disciples: Boulder, Lead, and Speed. The three squads – Elite, Performance, and Development – differ based on athlete goals and the amount of support athletes receive. Elite Squad members have proven that they are consistent World Cup competitors and are aiming for World Cup, World Championship, and Olympic participation. Performance Squad athletes are regular World Cup participants that are aiming to achieve at least a top-40 ranking. Compared to the Elite Squad, these athletes have second priority for entering international events like World Cups.
Development Squad climbers are those working their way up to World Cup-level competition. They show great promise but aren’t necessarily ready to compete at the very highest levels of the sport. They are consistent in continental competitions and are aiming on making the finals in North American cup Series events.
You can see the new list of Elite, Performance, and Development Squad members for 2025 below. There will additional intake rounds later in the year, particularly for the Development Squad.
