Monday Motivation: Allison Vest’s Bloodied Tips

Vest was recently in Denver at the Outdoor Retailer trade show with Black Diamond

Climbing can take a toll on the body, from achy elbows and belay necks to sore shoulders and tweaked scree-running knees, but it’s fair to say that hands take the biggest beating. Whether you’re jamming a crack, crimping a razor edge or palming a gritty sloper, eventually the skin will tear away and leave a bloody mess. No matter how bloody your hands have been, it’s doubtful your tips have been as bad as Allison Vest’s below.

Vest is the current Canadian lead champion and former Canadian bouldering champion. This spring in Squamish, she ticked Squaminator V12, Agoraphobia V11 and Ozzmosis V11. Vest recently joined Black Diamond’s climbing team and was in Denver at the Outdoor Retailer trade show.

Along with other climbers, she was on hand at the Climb with the Pros evening at Earth Treks, which is where she gave her fingers a solid workout. It’s a reminder to try hard no matter what.
