New Workshop for Women Who Want to Learn How to Set Routes

The Bring in the Girls (B.I.G) Initiative is running the event for women who have never set before or have very limited experience setting

The Bring In the Girls (B.I.G) Initiative is running two workshops in November for women who want to learn how to set routes.

The first course is taking place at Délire in Quebec City on Nov. 4 and 5. The second course is taking place on Nov. 18 and 19 at the Fredericton Bouldering Coop in New Brunswick. Applications for these courses is closed, but keep an eye out for advanced route setting taking place in 2022.

Earlier this year, B.I.G released four films that featured leading Canadian women in the world of climbing. In that story, Noah Walker wrote, “If we can accept this truth, it is easier to look upon the future. The question then becomes one of education and visibility. How can we see more women in the sport? While offering more qualified female routesetters makes a beginning, the Initiative’s recent film series sought to describe the many stories of women in climbing.

“They exist, they crush, and they each interact with climbing in unique ways. B.I.G founding member and Director Alexa Fay believes these relatable stories significant because of their relative accessibility.” Read the full story and watch the four film here.
