The first World Cup of the 2025 season begins today in Keqiao, China. The Boulder comp will see athletes from around the world compete in qualification, semi-final, and final rounds. The qualification round is taking place on Friday local time. The women’s semi-finals and finals will run on Saturday local time, with the rest of the men’s comp happening on Sunday local time.

In the men’s comp, there are some big names in the world of climbing registered and confirmed for the event, including Colin Duffy, Sam Avezou, Mejdi Schalck, Tomoa Narasaki, Sorato Anraku, Dohyun Lee, and Paris Olympic champion Toby Roberts, among others. The women’s event also looks stacked with athletes like Oceania Mackenzie, Annie Sanders, Oriane Bertone, Erin McNeice, Miho Nonaka, and Chaehyun Seo ready to compete.

Brooke Raboutou and Janja Garnbret are sitting out much of the World Cup season in 2025. Natalia Grossman is out recovering from knee surgery. Adam Ondra, Jakob Schubert, and Alex Megos are not competing at the event. In addition to Duffy and Sanders, several of Canada and the United States’ other top talent will be competing in China.
