The Chamonix Lead World Cup Is This Weekend – Here’s Who’s Competing and How to Watch

After a thrilling event in Villars, the IFSC World Cup series moves to Chamonix, France this weekend. This World Cup stop will feature both a speed and lead event. Lead qualifiers and speed finals are being held on Saturday July 8. On Sunday July 9, the event will conclude with the lead semi-finals and finals.
Some big names in lead climbing are registered to compete in the lead event including Alex Megos, Colin Duffy, Jessica Pilz, Chaehyun Seo, and Miho Nonaka. In 2022, Garnbret and Ondra took home gold in Chamonix, but they’re not competing at this year’s event. Garnbret’s gone unbeaten so far in the 2023 Lead World Cup, topping the podium in both Innsbruck and Villars.
Many of Canada and the United States’ top talent will be competing in the Chamonix lead event, although Brooke Raboutou and Natalia Grossman are not attending. Coming off a successful Boulder World Cup season, Raboutou won bronze at the Villars lead comp last week.
