Throwback Thursday: Sean McColl Crushes 2012 Boulder WC in Munich

Six years ago, McColl just crushed the World Cup finals in Munich, with three flashes and an impressive finish of problem two after getting stumped for a while on the first move. One heart-breaking, extra attempt on problem two cost him the top spot to Dmitrii Sharafutdinov but Sean looked super strong and earned himself a well-deserved silver medal.

One of the most remarkable sends of the evening was McColl’s flash of boulder three, which required coordination, balance and just enough power. The strong technical climber Jakob Schubert got shut down right before him, so McColl’s flash was especially exciting, even a little surprising, as he admitted after the comp.

Best comment of the event: “You can not stop the McColl.”
