50 V14 Boulders for Drew Ruana and a New V15

His first V14 was back on the last day of 2015, the same day he climbed his first V13

Top American boulderer Drew Ruana has climbed 50 V14 boulders. He made the announcement after climbing Mirror Reality V14 in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Ruana’s first V14 came on the same day as his first V13 back on Dec. 31, 2015 when he climbed Direction V13 and Direct North V14 in the Buttermilks. Watch both in the 2015 highlight video below. That year he also won the Sport Climbing Youth Nationals and sent New World Order 5.14c.

Not only did he climb his 50th V14, he also made the first ascent of Dire Wolf, a V15 that links Zokkstinga V12 and Wolf at the Door V13 in the Sheep Nose area of Colorado. “The full line of the wall,” said Ruana. “Start on Zokkstinga and trend left to finish at Wolf at the Door. One of the best ever.” The below video of the FA is by Jono Ruana.

Ruana is no stranger to hard sends, as he’s climbed some of the most difficult boulders ever, including Creature from the Black Lagoon V16, Sleepwalker V16, Box Therapy V16 and Insomniac V16 FA.
