A Basecamp Podcast Conversation With Bernadette McDonald

Bernadette McDonald is an author and climber based in the Canadian Rockies.

McDonald was instrumental in making the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival what it is today. She helped start the Banff World Tour, the Banff Mountain Book Festival, the Banff Writing Program and The Banff Centre for Mountain Culture.

McDonald retired from The Banff Centre in 2006 to focus on her writing career. She has since authored a number of award-winning books, including Freedom Climbers, Tomaz Humar and Alpine Warriors.

Gripped editor Brandon Pullan met with McDonald at the 2015 40th Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival. On the Basecamp podcast, Pullan had the opportunity to talk with McDonald about climbing Slovenia’s highest mountain, her books and future projects.
