A Mountain Climber Was Rescued Twice in One Week
He nearly died, was rescued and then returned for a lost cellphone only to nearly die again

A climber that was rescued on Mount Fuji, returned later in the week and had to get rescued a second time. The 27-year-old Chinese student, who’s studying in Japan, had tried to climb it when the mountain was closed. The peak is only open in July, August and September due to conditions.
The climber called for a rescue near the summit on his first attempt after losing a crampon and falling ill. He was rescued from above 3,000 metres and transported to a hospital.
Days after being released, he returned to Fuji to find his cellphone and other items that he’d lost. He made it near the summit a second time, but once again got sick. Another illegal climber found him in bad shape and called another rescue.
The rescues have led to discussions on social media suggesting that the climber should at least have to pay for one of the two rescues.
