Adam Ondra has added another hard climb to his long list of first ascents in 2017.
His new One Slap 5.15b adds a harder start to Stefano Ghisolfi’s One Punch in Arco, Italy.
Ghisolfi said it One Punch was 5.15a, Ondra said it was 5.15a/b and then added a bolt to make it a solid 5.15b. Ondra added the bolt with local route developer Mauro Mabboni, who bolted much of the crag.
After a while, I got to experience the moment when conditions are perfect, my mind is fully aware of it, that influence my state of mind, I climb free and confident, and I have the feeling of ease, flow and joy. First, I ticked off One Punch in Arco, a great first ascent from @steghiso. He gave it 9a+, but 9a+/b is probably closer to reality. It took me a few days over the last months. Then we added one more bolt and I made a first ascent of a harder start, calling it One Slap 9b. What a day! 2nd picture is together with Mauro Mabboni, who bolted most of this crag in Arco. @gardatrentino @montura.official @mytendon @lasportivagram @blackdiamond
Ondra has more ascents of climbs 5.14d or harder than any climber ever. Earlier this year, he made the first ascent of Silence at Flatanger, Norway, as the world’s first 5.15d.
