Alex Honnold Gets Bouldering Speed Record
The world's most famous free-soloist gets a speed record on a tall problem called Plumber's Crack

Earlier this year, a video by Alex Waterhouse shared on social media showing him getting a bouldering up-and-down speed record in Las Vegas went viral.
Alex Honnold, who lives only a few minutes away from the Kraft Boulders, recently beat the record while climbing with famous parkour athletes from the YouTube page Storror, and boulderer Emil Abrahamsson.
Waterhouse’s time was 25.97 seconds, but Honnold was able to do it in 25.08 seconds. About his new record, Waterhouse said, “Now I know how Alex felt when Nick Ehman beat his Nose solo record via the Jardine Traverse [joking about the different Style Honnold used via Waterhouse’s]. Glad you enjoyed the challenge. I’ll be back for vengeance next season.”
Watch Waterhouse’s record, and Abrahamsson’s video with Honnold below. About the viral video, Kyra Condie said it best: “this is the content I want more of on this app.” Plumber’s Crack, which is found at the Kraft Boulders near Calico Basin outside of Las Vegas, has been graded 5.9, 5.10, V0, V1 and V2.
