Alex Megos Sends Frankenjura’s Hardest Route

Alex Megos has made the first free ascent of the hardest route at the famous Frankenjura.

Megos, 21, is arguably one of the strongest climbers in the world. His new route at Frankenjura is called Supernova 11+ (9a+/b, 5.15a/b).

The new 5.15a/b is at the well-known Planetarium and was bolted by Joshi Schulz.

Megos wrote on his Instagram, “Steep and hard. After five days of trying, I did the first ascent of Supernova. In my opinion the hardest route in the Frankenjura.

“Thanks to Joshi Schulz for letting me try that thing.” Megos told PlanetMountain.com that the route climbs through a steep bulge and is difficult from start to finish, passing small holds and heelhooks.
