The Fraser Valley extends through the mountains along the Fraser River east of Vancouver. It’s home to some wild places and several small towns, including Hope. A new wall called The Grid Crag was just opened to the public.

Described as a multi-pitch crag, it’s been cleaned and fitted with hardware where needed. The belays are bolted and rigged for rappel, all you need is a 60-metre rope, trad gear and experience climbing splitters.

The wall never gets sun, so it’s perfect for those hot summer days. The access is found on Hunter Creek Road near the Hunter Creek Rest Area and the approach takes less than 20 minutes.

The crag has 17 pitches of climbing on routes from one to six pitches long. While there are a few closed projects, most the the climbs are good to go. The routes include Afternoon Delight 5.9, Stiffness Protocol 5.11b/c 2p, Fantastic Voyage 5.10a 4p, Baffin Island Beauty Queen 5.8, Mule Skinner 5.10b/c and Fool in the Rain 5.11b/c 4p.
