American Katie Lamb Talks Hard Bouldering
A new short from Patagonia gives us an inside look at what motivates the strong climber

Katie Lamb is among the strongest boulderers in the world, but her tick list shows that she’s not motivated by grades or notoriety. Instead, she’s constantly on the hunt for boulders that inspire her full attention, something she can quietly work away at with total focus.
When her send of Box Therapy pushes her to the centre stage of the climbing conversation, what should have been a crowning achievement becomes a challenge to define what drew her to climbing in the first place.
Lamb started out at the Boston Rock Gym and went on to win the 2012 PanAmerican Youth Championships before focusing on studying at Stanford University in computer science. After she graduated, she went on an “endless climbing trip, supporting her climbing with a mixture of sponsorships and a 20-hour-per-week data science job.”
After repeating Box Therapy, she continued to find hard projects and ended up in Squamish where she made a rare repeat of Deadlift V14, read about it here.
