Andy White Climbs Asclepius, New V13 in the Okanagan

Longtime local Kelowna climber Andy White has made the first ascent of a new V13 in The Boulderfields in the Okanagan Valley.

He called his new problem Asclepius and wrote on Instagram after, “One of things I love most about climbing is that it forces such a high level of focus and all that other stuff rattling around in the brain just dissolves for a while.

“No doubt a form of medicine. This line definitely put me at peace while I was working it. It was also awesome to hear that my brother in Okanagan development, Jason Duris fired off his latest tough first ascent last night as well. More Fields toughies!”

White recently raised over $7,000 for a new guidebook on bouldering in the Okanagan.

“The Okanagan Valley has been deserving of a quality guidebook to showcase its amazing bouldering for a very long time. Okanagan Bouldering will do just that.

“This guidebook includes over 1,800 climbs in nine areas from the North Okanagan to the South Okanagan. There’s no doubt that this guide will blow the lid off the Okanagan’s incredible bouldering.”

On June 23, the Rock the Blocks festival will be taking place in The Boulderfields, see here for more.
