There have been some big rockfall in Squamish this summer, with the one taking place on July 26/27 possibly being the most destructive. Top climber Jim Sandford emailed us with some images this morning.

He said, “Massive rock fall off The Chief last night, Black Dyke area. Many bouldering areas will be obliterated. Dust all over the boulders. The area will get shut down today for sure.” For a video of the area from Jason Green, scroll down.

This is breaking news, and we’ll update the story once more information about the closure, and routes damaged comes our way. For now, it’s advised to stay away from the rockfall area. For the Grand Wall rockfall see here, and the Slhanay rockfall see here.
