Association of Canadian Mountain Guides’ Fiftieth Anniversary
As part of the fiftieth anniversary of the ACMG, they are hosting the IFMGA Spring Conference presently happening in Whistler, BC.
One of the greatest institutions in climbing, a rather anti-institutional sport, is guiding associations. Climbing’s oldest profession has its own national institution in Canada, started in 1962, the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG). The ACMG ensures the quality of training for Canadian mountain guides is internationally approved by the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA) and among the most rigorous in the world.
As part of the fiftieth anniversary of the ACMG, they are hosting the IFMGA Spring Conference presently underway (May 12-19) in Whistler, BC. Representatives from over 20 countries are experiencing the Canadian mountains as they conduct their meetings.
