Aug 27, 2009 – Liquid Amber Sees Fourth Ascent

Llanberis based climber Pete Robbins has bagged the fourth ascent of Jerry Moffat’s famous testpiece Liquid Amber 8c (5.14b). Robins’ did all the individual moves very quickly but redpointing the route proved more difficult and required 20 days of work. Liquid Amber is located on Lower Pen Trwyn and suffers from tidal conditions and slick rock. Moffat originally climbed the route in 1990 with Ben Moon and Rich Simpson logging-in the only other repeats. More details here.
