Babsi Zangerl Sends an Arco 5.14c
She redpointed Solitary Souls 5.14c, a relatively new pumpy and powerful king line

Babsi Zangerl recently clipped the chains on Solitary Souls 5.14c (8c+) in Arco, Italy. The 35-metre route was established by local legend Alfredo Webber in 2019 and since then, it’s seen a lot of action. There have been several redpoints of the the route, including from Angelika Rainer, as well as an onsight from Adam Ondra in 2022.
“Such a pump fest!” said Zangerl on Instagram. “Really enjoyed the fight on that steep and long line!”
Zangerl, 36, is one the best all-around climbers in the world with impressive bouldering, sport climbing, and trad single pitch, multi-pitch, and big wall climbing. In 2008, she was the first woman to climb V12/13 with Pura Vida. She has sport climbed up to 5.14d (9a), including Speed Integrale and Sprengstoff, both in Austria.
Her list of trad climbing accomplishments is long: Meltdown 5.14c, Magic Line 5.14c, Le Voyage E10 7a, Prinzip Hoffnung E9, Muy Caliente! E9, The Path 5.14aR, and Greenspit 5.14-, among many others, including Magic Mushroom, a 900-metre 5.14a on El Cap. In November last year she made history by becoming the first climber to flash El Cap with her first-go ascent of Freerider 5.13a.
