Watch Barbara Zangerl Send Speed Intergrale 5.14d
Austrian climber Barbara Zangerl has sent Speed Integrale 5.14d at Voralpsee in Switzerland this spring.
Zangerl will be visiting Canada this summer for the first time.
Speed Integrale was first climbed by Cedric Lachat as an extension to Speed 5.14c, a classic Beat Kammerlander route.
On Instagram, Zangerl wrote, “What a day! At 7 a.m. I finished my night shift at the hospital, right after we drove to Voralpsee without any expectations.
“Energy was pretty low in the morning, but somehow the day ended with this crazy fight through this big runout. On my last try of the day, I did it!”
Zangerl is one of the most versatileclimbers in the world with 5.14c redpoints and 5.13+ onsights.
She’s sent the scary grade of E10 and climbed some of the hardest alpine sport climbs in the Alps.
In Yosemite with Jacopo Larcher, she recently climbed Magic Mushroom VI 5.14 for the climb’s second free ascent.
When talking about Magic Mushroom, Zangerl said, “At the very beginning it felt impossible to me.
“After a while I was optimistic that I could eventually do the single pitches up to the last hard one, but when we got to the last 5.14a pitch (40 metres below the top) I thought, I definitely can’t climb that route.”
