Legendary climber, guide and author, Barry Blanchard will be travelling east from the Canadian Rockies to speak at the Alpine Club of Canada’s AGM.
The club announced: “Our Annual General Meeting will run between 5:30 and 6:30 pm, where we will provide an update on the club’s achievements over the last year and look ahead to plans for 2019. The party will begin at 6:30 pm. There will be free finger foods, raffle prizes and a guest speaker.”
Blanchard will be speaking on Nov. 16 at The Pilot, Stealth Lounge (2nd floor). He will be talking about why he’s dedicated his entire adult life to finding the perfect new route up the perfect mountain. Showing images from climbing adventures to the Canadian Rockies, European Alps, and Greater Himalaya, with specific reflections on Howse Peak and Mount Robson Barry will illustrate the ways mountains engage and how climbing soothes the soul. He’ll also touch on his career as a mountain fuide and his involvement in making the Hollywood movies: K2, Cliffhanger and Vertical Limit.
