Beckett Hsin is 14, Just Climbed V15
This is one of the youngest sends of a problem this hard to date
Beckett Hsin has climbed The Game V15 in Boulder Canyon at 14 years old. Ashima Shiraishi also climbed V15 at 14, but she was closer to 15 years old than Hsin. In 2019, Mishka Ishi became the youngest climber to send V15 at 13 years old – read more here.
Hsin’s first V14 was Midnight Express only four days after turning 14, in September. “So psyched to finally send the boulder I’ve been dreaming about for so long,” said Hsin on 8a.nu. Beckett has two brothers, Ashar and Sam, who are also strong for their ages.
The Game was first climbed in 2011 by Daniel Woods, and it has been repeated around a dozen times, including by Carlo Traversi, Jimmy Webb and Drew Ruana. Woods originally proposed V16 and others who’ve repeated it consider it upper end V15.
Hsin added this to 8a.nu, “On the first session back I surprised myself by almost doing all the moves. I spent a few more sessions finding and refining beta, that fit my height and style. A few days later everything clicked and I sent. 8 days of work over two years. I’m still surprised that I sent this quickly, since I really expected this to be a big long term project. Nonetheless I’m still so psyched to have sent.”
