Big 5.15 Sends for Hong and Raboutou in Spain
Americans Matty Hong and Shawn Raboutou are currently in Spain and are currently sending 5.15 projects.
Hong has just climbed Fight or Flight 5.15b in Oliana for his first route of the grade. It’s likely the fifth ascent of the route after Chris Sharma, Adam Ondra, Jakob Schubert and Sachi Amma.
Daniel Woods reported the send on Instagram and said, “Send vibez in the air. My dawg Hongy just sent Fight or Flight 9b/5.15b. First of the grade for him.
“Matty is both talented behind the camera (produced Margo Hayes/Reel Rock segment) and on rock. This route is no joke. Multiple hard boulder problems build to a finishing all out dyno (pictured here) to a victory jug.
“If u fail on this move u take a stomach dropping ride. Stoked for ya dude.”
And Raboutou, a top boulderer, reported on his Instagram that he climbed Duele la Realidad 5.14c in Oliana and First Ley 5.15a in Margalef.
Raboutou said on Instagram that he hadn’t rope climbed for about five years. Sends of First Ley include Chris Sharma, Alex Megos, Mateusz Haladaj and Stefano Ghisolfi, maybe others.
