Big Bouldering Repeats in Colorado to Start Fall 2017

Colorado is home to some of the world’s classic hard boulder problems and many top climbers have spent the past few weeks climbing them.

Daniel Wood’s Creature from the Black Lagoon V16, a route-length long roof problem, was repeated by Jimmy Webb for the third ascent and Daisuke Ichimiya for the fourth ascent. Ichimaya also made an ascent of the classic Jade V14.

Webb went on to send Day Tripper V12, Domestic Cat V14, Stones Throw V13, The Slack V9 and the first ascent of Academia in California.

Sam Weir pieced together Topaz for the problem’s fourth ascent and his first V15. Dave Graham made the first ascent in 2016.

Weir noted after, “It took a lot of mental strength to see this one through and climb confident enough to set the toe hooks. I was plenty strong enough to do it many times but just wasn’t mentally ready to put it down.”
