British Columbia’s Roche Lake Gets Hard New Route

The Roche Lake wall is a great crag near Roche Lake in the Kamloops area and it features the hardest climbs around Kamloops.

Roche Lake has dozens of high-quality routes on steep rock. Local Pat Campbell, who spends most of his time bouldering, recently sent one of his roped projects at Roche, which is now one of the crag’s hardest routes.

Last week, Campbell sent his new route Wheel of Roche 5.13a on his third try. “I numbed out early, luckily I found a good enough rest to get the circulation back, definitely the hardest endurance style route I’ve ever sent,” Campbell wrote on his Sendage card.

Campbell’s other new routes at Roche include: Well Hung Jury 5.13b, Switch the Verdict 5.12c and Evidence of Flight 5.12a.
